The symphony is scored for two oboes, two trumpets and strings.In contemporary orchestras, it was also usual to include bassoons and harpsichord if they were available in the orchestra to reinforce the bass line and act as the continuo. Zaslaw refers to “observance of all of Mozart’s repeats” but I question whether all of the repeats are observed in the first movement of the 38th Symphony, one of my favorite Mozart Symphonies.
